Apprenticeship Application Waitlist Form
Ready to build your future?
The Post Production Engineering Apprenticeship Program is comprised of 2,000 hours – all laser-focused on valuable skills training, on-the-job learning, and one-on-one mentorship. All in all, the apprenticeship consists of over $25,000 in KCE courses and programs, but approved applicants will actually be paid to learn! Apprentices start at $18.71 per hour and move up to $21 per hour by the end of the program.
Candidates should have a passion for the creative process and a love for that technical tools that make it possible. Film or engineering experience is not required; instead, we ask for your ability to work with others, listen intently, follow instructions, and enjoy building computers and working with software.
Candidates should be available to work up to 30 hours per week, though there will be an initial training period before the on-the-job training begins.
Skills and experience you’ll need:
- Basic understanding of computers
- Experiences using computers (macOS and Windows)
- Valid drivers license
- Ability to lift 35 pounds
- Ability to get to and from Burbank, CA
Bonus points if you have:
- Experiences with Avid, Adobe, or Blackmagic products
- Experience using cameras
- Experience with networking
- Experience with wiring

The Post Production Engineering Apprenticeship Program includes practical exercises to prepare an individual for the reality of working in the field. These include:
- OS & Software Installing | Integration
- Imaging Software
- Virtual Machines & Remoting
The combined decades of experience of Key Code Education’s engineering and executive team will play a large role in guiding students’ toward success. This will include:
- Mentoring with Key Code Education’s Chief Academic Officer
- Interview with the President of Key Code Media
- One-on-One with Key Code Media’s Senior Engineering Team
Key Code Media employs dozens of engineers in the Los Angeles area and across the country. Individuals in the Apprenticeship Program will spend eight weeks with Key Code Media engineers assisting in projects and learning new systems.
A strong need for qualified engineers is currently surging in the media industry with no signs of stopping and Key Code Education will work with each individual to place them in the best job position to match their skill. Partnering with facilities around the Southern California region and leveraging Key Code Media’s constant need for available engineers, our Job Placement has hit 100% over the last two years.
From vendors such as Adobe, Avid Technology, and Blackmagic Design, students will walk away with five industry-recognized certifications beyond apprenticeship and job placement.
