Objectives
- Develop a clear understanding of the human voice’s range and how we perceive audio across the frequency spectrum
- Learn industry terminology and distinctions between track effects and Audio Suite effects
- Acquire technical skills to manage and organize your audio for maximum creativity and control
- Apply compression, de-essing, EQ, reverb, and other effects to sculpt dialogue, score, and sound effects
- Implement proper mixing techniques, set up faders, and avoid clipping and distortion
- Utilize rubber-banding, crossfades, and other methods to produce smooth, purposeful transitions
- Combine dialogue, SFX, and score to aid story delivery and guide your collaborators
- Search for, layer, and customize sounds to add texture and depth to your mix
- Align your audio to picture, emphasizing dramatic moments and strengthening character and story
- Provide clear temp mixes to aid communication with supervisors, composers, and final mixers

Prerequisites
Completion of MC101 Avid Media Composer Fundamentals I, completion of ED201M Assistant Editor Essentials: Media Composer, or equivalent experience. A working knowledge of Windows or Macintosh operating systems. Experience in video production or post-production is recommended.
