RV120 Ross Carbonite Hardware & System Fundamentals Overview
Building on RV120, RV220 dives into intermediate switcher operation, DashBoard integration, M/E layering, and custom-control automation. Through hands-on labs, students create camera cuts, keys, transitions, XPression graphics hits, and fail-safe macros – ready to helm Carbonite in any live-production ecosystem.
Class Details
Objectives
- Navigate DashBoard and control surfaces for real-time production – SideBox Modules, CX Panels these products are for Ultrix Overdrive
- Configure sources, buses, M/Es, and keyers for complex multi-layer compositions
- Build and trigger macros (Custom Controls) for automated camera cuts, clip rolls, and keying sequences
- Create custom DashBoard panels for remote or touchscreen control; use GPI/O and RossTalk triggers
- Integrate with graphics systems (e.g., XPression): key/fill routing, scene recall, data-links
- Set up MediaStore players, stills/animations, and dynamic graphics workflows
- Implement and troubleshoot multiviewer setups with enhanced tally, alarms, and UMD labeling
- Diagnose on-air issues fast – noisy keys, frame-sync errors, lost tallies – without losing program output
- Use Carbonite in a team setting with remote and hybrid workflows (Ross Ultrix routing, DashBoard over VPN, HTML5 tally)
- Apply Ross best practices for show-file versioning, backup, and preventive maintenance
